What do you compromise when you go about making a free ride board?

A good freeride board needs to have a balance of comfort and performance. This generally means good edging in all conditions, early planing, powerful upwind capabilities and easy release. These characteristics generally require a rounded board edge – which to answer the question – compromises the direct feeling. This is only really noticeable when you compare it to a freestyle board, but we’ve still adjusted the design to produce the best ride possible. We’ve made the Sanchez extremely forgiving, so you’ll always be in control.

The double concave channel on the tips seems to be very minimal. How much does it really affect the performance?

This can be easily verified by anyone at home. Simply putting two boards side by side – one with channels and one without – there are no doubts whatsoever that those little channels make a big difference. We used video analysis to determine the difference, and there was markedly less spray in the direction of rider. That means a smooth, uninhibited ride.
