After a bit more than a year of study and analysis of numerous incident reports, the International Kiteboarding Organisation (IKO) has just published its findings on accidents in kitesurfing.
It was compiled after studying the hundred accidents reported during the period 2000 - 2002, accidents which didn’t happen during classes or courses with a (qualified) instructor but during free riding sessions.
The source information comes from questionnaires returned to the IKO with the help of Flysurf.com, accidents reported on Ikiteboarding.com and based on reports from the FKSA (Florida Kitesurfing Association).
