Hej Dudes,

my name is Steffen and I am going to spend half a year in Amsterdam and of course I want to go kitesurfing a lot. Many people and the university where I am going to study told me that it is nearly impossible to go by car to Amsterdam or let's say to find a parking space for the car that is affordable. Have you guys any hints how it works with a car in Amsterdam and if its better to go with a small car instead of a bus or if there are many Kiters out there in Amsterdam that I will find a lift? I am happy about every hint. Maybe there is already a Facebook Group for Kitesurfers in Amsterdam or a special forum?

Cheers!

It depends on where you are located; Amsterdam is not known for it's affordable and abundance of parking spots but in the suburbs it is not that bad. Apart from using a car the train connection between Amsterdam and Zandvoort is pretty good which is also an option. This also depends a little on where you will be located within Amsterdam; if you need to take 4 trams before you hit the train station with all your gear then I guess it is not that nice.

Apart from Zandvoort we have several other Beach spots close to Amsterdam but for those you definitely need a car: Wijk aan Zee, IJmuiden, Bloemendaal. Then there is IJburg which is in the suburbs of Amsterdam but you need winds with East in it which we don't have that often.

I guess it doesn't make sense to work on your logistics challenge before you know where your bed is situated within Amsterdam {#emotions_dlg.nerd.gif}

There is a spotguide here on Hanglos but you can also download the Stoked Publications app on your phone. This way you will have every spot, with wind directions, stats and the like in your pocket
