Het gemiddelde surfboardje is een mini natuurrampje opzich. We hebben het dan over de productie methode en materialen gebruikt om het board te maken. Of we het nou over de vullingen of afwerking hebben het is eigenlijk allemaal niet "groen" zeg maar.

Ambient Bio-based board

Brunotti heeft een golfsurfboard gemaakt met een kartonnen honingraat structuur van binnen. Daarnaast zijn ook de gebruikte producten om er een surfboard van te maken zo gekozen dat de aanslag op de natuur minimaal is. Toch kan het board in massa productie gemaakt worden en ziet er het ook nog is echt goed uit.

We hebben het hier over een golfsurfboard maar met dezelfde techniek zijn kitesurfboards ook mogelijk hebben we al te horen gekregen!

Het board wordt deze week op de ISPO in Munchen gelanceerd! Dus je kan hem daar meteen bewonderen.

Brunotti over het nieuwe board:

As all board sports brand, we are aware of the impact surfboards have on the environment. In our opinion the sea is not a plastic collection bin. Together with organisations such as the Plastic Soup Foundation we are trying to keep the oceans clean. Our Brunotti team riders, Olympic windsurfer and ambassador of the Plastic Soup Foundation Dorian van Rijsselberghe, contribute to the awareness of this environmental problem as well.

Some of the problems are caused by the production methods. The materials used for producing boards haven’t changed since the ‘70s. Aware of the waste in the sea and the pollution of the environment, we developed the Ambient bio-based surfboard. In launching this board, we aim to achieve sustainability in mass manufacturing, raise awareness of the large environmental problem and innovatively change the industry and production standard.

The Ambient bio-based honeycomb paper board is made of mostly natural materials from renewable resources and a low carbon footprint. The blank is made of 75% recycled honeycomb paper with EPS rails. It is laminated with Bcomb Amplitex natural flax fabric and the glassing is done with Entropy Resin’s bio-epoxy. The visible natural fibres and honeycomb paper emphasise sustainability while preserving the traditional high performance shape of the board. The unique bio-based construction of this board makes this a sustainable board with a low carbon footprint, a long life expectancy and minimized production waste. We have begun to develop a 6”6 ft. surfboard.

The construction is not only suitable for surfboards but also for kite-wave boards, windsurfboards and SUP boards. The chosen materials and innovative construction will be applied in standard mass production. The innovative Ambient Bio-Based board:

Thanks to the transparency of the board, the natural fibres and the honeycomb paper are nicely visible and the board creates cool effects in the water and by sunlight.
