Description
The Override IDS unit is a convenience item which provides the user a temporary place to let go of the control bar to unspin their lines. Override IDS can also be used to manage the tension and placement position of your bungeed trim adjusters. The optional installation of this accessory item will modify the IDS Operation instructions on page 20 of the user manual Specifically, these instructions will supersede the subsection for Depower on Demand (stage 1) operation.

Installation does not affect Absolute Depower (stage 2), which remains as the method of releasing residual power from your kite.

Operation
1) The operation of the Override IDS unit is simple. Position the unit in your desired location along the depower main line.

Many people ride with the unit set at the point where they can reach the power adjusters but where it does not interfere with normal depower.

2) Squeeze the tension ring to achieve your desired holding tension. The tighter you squeeze, the more difficult it is to move the unit. Separate the tension ring to reduce the load tension.


3) To spin your control system, place the bar up near the Override IDS unit. Prior to letting the bar go, spin the bar in the direction needed to take the twists out of your control lines. When the lines have corrected themselves, grab ahold of the bar and resume steering. Take note that you are holding the bar in the correct orientation. The red grip pattern should be on the left and the
gray grip pattern should be on the right.
4) To achieve Depower on Demand (Stage 1 depower) push the control bar into the Override IDS unit, pushing the unit towards the kite until the desired depower is achieved. The resistance to move the Override IDS unit will depend on the amount of tension you choose on the tension ring. Higher ring tensions will require more force to push the Override IDS unit towards the kite to achieve Depower on Demand’s first stage of depower.
5) If need be, you can re-position the unit back to your desired location by sliding Override down the main line.

Dat IDS, dat is toch alleen een nieuwe naam voor iets dat veel merken toch al veel langer gebruiken, of mis ik iets?
4-lijnen, met een safety naar de front lijnen toch?

Ja maar dan in een mooi uitgevoert jasje en dat je bar niet meer automatisch de hele
lijn af gaat maar op een met of 3 blijft hangen. En op dat moment ligt de kite plat op
de grond net als een 5th lijn. Dus het is niet alleen puur safety aan een frontlijn.

Het zit allemaal in de IDS bridle op de kite, en het heeft weinig te maken met een lijn naar een van de voorlijnen/stuurlijnen, of een lijn naar de kite.
Doordat de front- en backbridles los van elkaar functioneren, en door een simpele overbrenging van katrollen in de frontbridles, kan de kite zover kantelen dat je de werking van een 5th line krijgt.

Voorbeeld: Je bent gewoon ingehaakt en je laat je bar los, de bar beweegt naar het eind van je depowerlijn. Dat is een 70/80cm ongeveer. Hierdoor krijg je maximale depower (depower on demand).
Stel je depowerlijn is 4m lang, en je zou dan de bar los laten, dan gaat er zoveel spanning van de stuurlijnen af dat de kite ver genoeg kan kantelen voor een 5th functie (absolute depower).

Cabrinha heeft dus een lijn gemaakt vanaf je chickenloop tot een paar meter boven je depowerstrap. Trek je nu de quickrelease, dan worden beide voorlijnen een paar meter aangetrokken zodat de kite kantelt.
IDS is in eerste instantie een methode om zelf je kite te landen, aangezien je met ''depower on demand'' eigenlijk altijd genoeg depower hebt on controle te houden.
Maar het is natuurlijk ook een backup safety system.
