ALL GIRL"S DAY AT KANAHA BEACH DELIVERS MAIN EVENT ROSTER FOR HO"OKIPA
WOMEN"S FIELD IS SET FOR FINAL RED BULL KING OF THE AIR SHOWDOWN
Oct. 11, 2005 – Maui, Hawaii – Women"s kiting action today was fierce as
the field of 17 trialists competed for six open spots in the Red Bull King
of the Air main event. Wind conditions were not as strong as yesterday,
but a steady 15 - 20 knot breeze at Kanaha Beach allowed for plenty
impressive kiteboarding. Stand out women today included a young crop of
athletes - 15-year-old Jalou Langeree of the Netherlands and 16-year-old
Morgan Skiperdene of North Carolina - who impressed the judges with kiting
performances beyond their years.
Tomorrow the event takes a break as athletes and crew recharge for main
event action beginning this Thursday at Ho"okipa Beach. A northwest swell
in the double overhead range is expected to coincide with the first day of
the event. With a hungry, emerging generation of kiteboarders, an
experienced crew of established riders and one of the best swells
forecasted in King of the Air history, the event is sure deliver a grand
finale.
