My first session on a CO2 14 M recon kite was not fun.
I tested the safety system in solid 12 to 15 knots of wind...
Preflight...I inspected the bridle sys and made sure it moved freely. Everything seemed OK...after I launched the kite, I went to test the safety release system. I deployed the saftey and the bullets/plugs would not move out of sockets .. which rendered the safety system useless.
After speaking to a rep, I was told that some bullets/plugs need to be sanded down to fix the problem. After closer inspection, I don't think sanding the plug would help. Maybe there was a small amount of sand I missed when I checked it out on preflight...but bottom line is "sand and recon don't mix"
I just want to warn you guys and gals that if you get this kite...BEWARE of any sand in the sockets. You may find the same problem I had with sticky bullets.
keeping the sockets clear of all sand is a tough order to fill... especially self launchinching. I hope with more dillegence in keeping sand out of system, I will have a better experience with the recon system.
Other than that...
The kite flies really nice, the control bar is great, and the recon system is a great innovation.
Good winds to all.
