Well, shit happens and it happened to me last week when I broke my ankle. It happened when I was kiting and tried to turn on my waveboard in shallow water. The fins hit the sandbank, my front foot got stuck in the footstrap, I fell around my ankle and could hear the bone crack.
I knew there was something wrong straight away. First I thought it were maybe my ligaments that snapped, but after x-rays we could see my bone was broken. The doctor tried to find a sports surgeon to put screws in the bone, so I could heal faster. That wasn't easy but he did find a doctor in the hospital of Leeuwarden that was prepared to put the screws in.
Last Wednesday I had my first operation ever and it was strange to see your legs, but you don't feel them... It was like they belonged to someone else. But the operation went well and luckily my ligaments are fine, something I was really worried about. Also the morphine was an experience, I was high the whole day!!
