The second annual Fancy Dress Beach Party was an even bigger success than the first – quadrupling in size and setting a new all-time record for the amount of kites out at Orewa Beach!
More than a hundred kiters and party people enjoyed the fun, games and free hospitality on April Fool"s Day, with over 40 kiters out on the water for most of the afternoon, many of them sporting some of the most outrageous costumes seen.
Many conventional modes of thinking were challenged, but the weather was the ultimate star of the show, turning on a perfect 15 knot NE breeze from noon till dark.
Several x-rated books could be filled with the bizarre moments and high jinks but the prizegiving ceremony attended by approximately 40 party people will surely go down in history as the funniest exhibition of tweaked out behaviour ever witnessed at the beach.
