het freestyle buggyen wordt meer en meer populairder.. hier heb je een team dat zich hier vooral met bezighoud en zich klaarstoomt voor komende wedstrijd(en)

Flexifoil’s buggy team Mark, Dave and Richy get ready to freestyle NABX (N. American Buggy Expo).

It’s three years since Mark, Rob and Richy first went to see if America’s formidable dry lakes would live up to their reputation of the perfect flat buggy venue. Back in ’04 when NABX was fondly referred to as the Spring Break Buggy Blast, the guys only got three days worth of flying because ironically, it rained.

With Flexifoil’s support and new member Dave (aka Stupid Dave) taking the place of Rob Hills, the team are keeping their fingers crossed the rains will stay away this year for 10 days of low humidity and high adrenaline buggying madness.

NABX’s reputation has spread across the globe as a must-fly event for many fliers of traction kites. The combination of American hospitality, the weather and of course the venue makes for a trip of a life time. The main venue located at Primm is over looked by maintains that encircle Lake Ivanpah. The distortion of the heat haze within the lake’s basin belittles the enormity of the place. Within a few short minutes riders can experience the feeling of remoteness and solitude as their buggy glides effortlessly across the cracked but smooth surface.

The surface of a dry lake offers the same low rolling resistance of concrete. But, as with concrete there’s no mercy for a miss calculated move. With the support of Dainese, manufactures of quality personal protection clothing, Mark, Dave and Richy are feeling confident they won’t be claiming on their health insurance.

On arrival in Las Vegas on 28 March, local Flexifoil dealer Corey will meet and greet the team before setting off on a three day pre-event road trip. After returning from the road trip the guys will be staying at the Primm resort, south of Vegas on I15, for the duration of the main event. Situated on the dry shore of Lake Ivanpah the hotel is only 200 meters from the edge of the lake, but it will be a further 2 mile drive along the lake’s shore line to reach the event’s base camp.During their time on the lake bed the guys will be demonstrating the awesome power of the Blade IV and for a relaxing cruse along the length and breath of the lake bed the Rage II will be the kite of choice. The thermal winds generated by the desert sun just about guarantees perfect conditions every day. Majoring on freestyle the team will be in their element flying on the smooth constant air currents, hopefully avoiding the more challenging and random dust devils.
To see what else the team will be getting up to and for more information on NABX including freestyle
competitions, shot car racing and the five lake challenge go to www.nabx.net
