Just starting out with kitesurfing, had lessons in Cabarete in The Dominican Republic and bought myself a Slingshot Octane 2006 14m.
I have been trying to kite surf in Huizen and a couple of times at Wijk aan Zee, but it seems that my kite doesnt seem to have much power on the up swing so from 3 oclock to 1 oclock, I am assuming that this is because I am trying to fly the kite when there is not that much wind, say around 12 knots. However, I see other kiters with only 12m kite, and mine is 14m, and they had no problems with their kite wanting to fall out the sky.
If any of you have the Octane kite, maybe you could let me know if you have the same problem?
I also read somewhere that the kite only really gets going in winds from 13 to 28 knots, but then i still dont understand why I have to fight to keep a 14m kite up in the air and people with a 12m kite can get up on the water? Have I set the kite up incorrectly?
Any help would be great, je kunt ook in het Nederlands beantworden.
