Hello to everybody, I'm new on this forum and also I've been in the Nederlands for one year. Normally I go kitesurfing in Oostvoorne, Slufter and Zandmotor but I saw a small lake close to my office in Vlaardingen called Surfplas. Does anyone know if it is allowed to kitesurf there? Otherwise are there some other lake were it is possible to kitesurf close to Rotterdam? Thanks guys.

So in short, the anwer is no.

In the Netherlands our nature is so fragile, that it only takes one kite to scare away all wildlife within a 20 Km radiuis, for at least 50 years, including ants, bees and butterflies.
So you might be looking around you and think "what nature? All I see is 1 duck and he seems to be completely ignoring me ???" but you have to consider the risk of disterbing the sensitive balance in nature.

If however, you want to take some drunk friends with a soundblaster in a motorboat on that same lake, that should be no problem. 🙂
