I just heard about a fatality which happend yesterday in Germany.
A 50 year old kiter was found dead on a beach one day after people at the beach reported a surfer in trouble about 3km away from shore.
Winds very gusting up to 76 km/h (40 knots). When found, he was still attached to his kite (not know if safety was activated).
Here some facts:
- water 1°C
- air 1-3°C
- he kited alone
It looks like he died due to undercooling. Maybe he lost his board or dropped his kite.
