The KPWT Team wishes you all the best
for 2006!
Dear competitors,
The KPWT Team is happy to send you all its best wishes for 2006! Hope this new year will be as successful as possible for you all!
As far as the world cup series are concerned, after a beautiful 2005 season closed in New Caledonia with the consecration of the new world champions Gisela Pulido (SP) and Thomas Cocquelet (FR), the 2006 tour is already most promising.
Nine stages are scheduled, among which various reeditions, starting with the Como Lake World Cup in Italy, the Jim Beam events in Istambul, Turkey and Cabo Frio, Brazil, the St Gilles kitesurf Pro in France, Alcatel Kitesurf Pro, New Caledonia, the Perth Kiteboard World Cup during the australian Gravity Games H2O.
The KPWT caravan will also be back to Portugal and South Africa, with new locations to be further announced.
Furthermore, the circuit will also make a stop in new destinations, like Morocco, and potential other countries, still under negociation..
To secure and guarantee the success of these events, the KPWT team has once again this year built partnerships with professional sport events organisers around the world. New collaborators highly skilled will join the team as well to keep on improving both the events sport and organisation aspects.
Moreover, guess most of you will appreciate this, the riders" financial benefits will considerably increase this year, starting with a 55,000.00 USD prize money at stake during the first event in Italy!!!
Regarding the competition formats, aside the success of the freestyle world series, the 2006 KPWT will keep on proposing the competitors a wide variety of disciplines, by organizing various other competitions, Speed Crossing and Wave Masters in particular - the 2005 series of which were won by the spaniard Gisela Pulido and Jose Luengo - that will give the riders the opportunity to express their wide range of talents on the water. Besides, Speed races and Hang time contests will be also launched, with possible new world records!!!
To conclude, as far as the media coverage and sponsorship are concerned, the KPWT will keep on improving and developing its international exposure. After the 2005 TV new partnerships (with ESPN Classic Sport, Sailing Channel, Supersport, Eurosport, to quote but a few.) the KPWT should finalize new agreements, widening its press and TV coverage, which are the key of success for the organizers and the riders.
See you in a few months for the kick off of the season!!!
.specific event dates & information soon available on www.kiteboardpro.com.
In the meantime, we wish you good wind and waves wherever you ride!
Kitesurfistically yours,
KPWT Team
