This year, KPWT is celebrating its 10th anniversary since the founding in 1998. Every kitesurfing community is invited to participate in this year-long KPWT celebration.
The Fiat Freestyle Kiteboard World Cup (30th June - 6th July) is the third exciting event of the 2008 season after France and Greece. It is the result of a co-organization agreement between Fiat, Connexia, Free time and Pro Loco Colico . Fiat is a major actor in the sport in Italy, and in the international circuit of the Kiteboarding World Cup since 2005. This is also the opportunity for the KPWT to come back to Italy for the four year, 2005, 2006, 2007 !! And on the top of that, Colico has the 2007 KPWT Hang Time World Record !

the city and aRea
Lake Como (Lago di Como) is a lake of glacial origin in
Lombardy, Italy. It is the third largest lake in Italy – after
Lake Garda and Lake Maggiore – and one of the deepest in
Europe – the bottom of the lake is more than 200m below
sea level. Como is the largest and probably most visited city
along the lake and is about a two-hour drive from Milan.
The lake is surrounded by high mountains, gentle hills and
valleys, untouched woods, villages and towns and raging
torrents and big rivers. The territory – which is now divided
into two provinces, Como and Lecco – has always been an
area of intense activity, being a crossing point between
Central Europe and the Mediterranean.
Lake Como, particularly the northern part, is famous in
Europe as a good place to practice kiteboarding.

From March to October, the “breva†is the typical thermic
wind of the lake. The average strength is 12 to 20 knots.

From Malpensa and Linate Airports, make your way to the centre of Milan and take the train in the
direction Sondrio-Tirano. From Orio al Serio Airport it’s best to catch a train directly from Bergamo
Station in the direction of Lecco.

Colico is well connected to Milan. You can reach it within 1.5hrs
by local trains that leave from the centre of Milan. However, from
Bergamo Station you have to go to Lecco and then change trains.

A speed race from one point to another With a spectacular beach start, this discipline looks great
from the beach and the air (helicopter). It has a great opportunities for sponsors to advertise on
the big buoys. In 1 to 5 (but not more) races, the winner will be the one who has the most points.
