IKO is in the Kiteboarding and Snowkiting Industry business and provides teaching contents for instructors, quality and safety standards for both schools and instructors that are recognized and applied worldwide. Considered as extreme sports, the IKO addresses the need for safe and efficient teaching. Founded in November 2001, it is the first and only organization operating at an international level in this field and is recognized as the international governing body. The IKO counts over 3000 instructors and 130 affiliated schools worldwide.
