Qualifacations men finished
17.44 hours: In the afternoon the wind picked up again and the last qualification heats got through.
As many riders who registered did not show up it was decided that all riders that entered the competition get into the main event straight away! So the heats done ended up waist of energy for everybody! Memorable performances were from Korstanje, Portas and Eloy, these guys showed a steady heat. But also - local hero - Danny Seales showed some amazing kiteloops. He was lucky he was not disqualified as he did not wear a lycra. Currently our cameraman Joris is still in the water, tomorrow the first pics of the event on this site!
15.58 hours: the restart of the second heat will start in 15 minutes. We all have been on the beach the whole day and we only got finished one heat. Due to the wind we had to postpone again and again. The winner of the first heat was Cool Skin rider Cesar Portas who was ´on fire´. We are all on fire here with this beating sun on our skulls......
Gotta go now to see the next heats in 10 minutes. Hopefully the will will pick up a bit so we get some hardcore action in.
12.28 hours: unfortunately after a nice morning breeze the wind dropped again. No action for the next few hours....... Some riders decided to hit some waves on the other side of the island. Speed legend Pascal Maka has arrived to and will participate in the kite speed event! This windsurf speed pioneer still looks fit enough to hit the waters fast. At least he has the guts and the feel for speed. The temperature rises again....
10.14 hours: Looking out the window from the Hotel straight at the speed course I can see the wind picking up but not completely overwhelming yet. The skippers meeting for speed is happening now and the free style is set to start at 11.00. Finally some action after two days of nothing.
It´s time the wind set in before the riders break down the hotel out of boredom. Yesterday the pool was covered with bored riders who were looking at channeling their bulked energy. Today they can release on the water!
