About ten days ago, an Italian kitesurfer “bit off way more than he could chew at Ponta Preta†(Manu’s words), the legendary wave spot on Sal island in Cabo Verde. After long minutes spent among the rocks, a friend finally managed to help him out of the water and virtually straight onto a plane, almost as if by prior agreement. But after experiencing severe problems in the spinal column, the afternoon accident victim became an evening casualty statistic, in the very plane taking him home.
