WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS FOR YOU RIDING FANATIC?
There are a lot of benefits in having a pro model with Fanatic. I think the biggest benefit is having access and being able to take advantage of all the construction technology that North/Fanatic have developed in the past years.
WHAT DOES A PROMODEL MEAN TO YOU?A Pro Model for me means that I get to spread my little piece of kiteboarding to the world through my design. More than anything I want my pro model to be a tool for people to have fun on the water.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO RIDE THIS SPECIFIC BOARD /THESE LENGTH/WIDTH/CHARACTERISTICS?
This size board works well for bigger riders like myself. I wanted something big enough to ride in light wind but controllable enough to ride overpowered. Basically I wanted a board that I could get a lot of performance out of and that was easy to ride in all conditions.
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANSFOR YOUR KITEBOARDING FUTURE?
I’m really enjoying where I’m at right now in life. I’m doing what I love and spending a lot of time riding and doing R & D on kites and boards. I will keep competing as much as possible because I think it’s important for kiteboarding at this stage of the game to really get a good thing going there. Kiteboarding has a long ways to go before it reaches the level that I envision, so I will keep doing my best to always push it and be content but never satisfied. We’re gonna see some crazy things in the next five years I can tell ya that much!
WHEN AND WHERE DID YOU START KITEBOARDING? HAVE YOU BEEN WINDSURFING BEFORE AND WHY HAVE YOU CHANGED?
I began windsurfing when I was six years old. I moved to the Caribbean with my family when I was nine so windsurfing was always there for me. I competed but I was too young to take it that seriously. I basically started kiting out of boredom. I was sitting on the beach one day waiting for wind and a friend of mine had just bought a used 8.5 Wipika, so I grabbed it from him and went out for a few hours. . .one month later I sold and gave back all my windsurfing gear to my sponsors and bought kites!
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BE HAPPY?
Wind, waves. friends, family.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF KITESURFING, COMPARED TO OTHER SPORTS?
I would like to see kiteboarding become as mainstream as snowboarding and skateboarding. I think it has a lot of potential to do so because it appeals to so many people from so many board-sport backgrounds.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS?
To be myself and be happy.
