At the end of the 2003 tour the subject of board handles came up, so the PKRA decided to put it up for a vote to decide what to do for the 2004 tour.

It was clear that during the 2003 competitions it was very hard for the judges to notice if someone was using a handle on their board or not during their heat, especially when the riders were far away from the judge tower doing their tricks, therefore the two options to vote were:
1. Forbid all Board Handles and not allow them in competition.

2. Allow all Board handles in competition and have the judges make no distinction between the riders that have them and the ones that don’t.
The vote was counted separately for Men and Women and it will be implemented according to the vote.
The results were:

No handle allowed for Men (50 riders voted 31 or 62% in favor of no handle)
Handle allowed for Women (25 riders voted 16 or 64% in favor of allow handle)

Some of the comment from the riders follow:
allow board handles as it is harder for people with mutants and heaver board
s
Tough call. I have no handle and it sucks to loose to a guy with one because he has it. I say no handles. they are for carrying your board.
NO HANDLES, because it is to difficult for the judges to see whether handle or not
no handles.
just make it clear long before any event
ALLOW HANDLES cOS IT´S BETTER TO ADVANCE OF SPORT
I think that there must be no handel, like in skate boarding
i think to allow handles will be better becouse there are some riders with make very good moves but only with board handle ,and this best riders will made bettertricks with out it than that worst witch use board handle
In my way of view the handle is good safety tool and open a lot of possibilities to new tricks
what a question! of course they should be forbidden! Hey man this is gay
I just don´t think that it is so importaint to train board off´s again... there are so much more things to learn.
personally i prefer that all riders do not use a handle but i think the riders should be allowed the option of using a handle if they wish to. i think it starts getting too complicated when you start restricting too many things especially when a large % use handles. i think it is not fair for them.
I vote for no handle because we can do all our tricks without it.
i vote for the handle.
why take the handle off and limmit the board tricks by half the amount
the board offs look messy without the handle if everyone has a handle it would be way more spectacular!!!!
I don't have a handle on my board anymore but I think it's kinda crazy to tell the riders what to do

tjalling...
