Harold Quinquis made an excellent description of the Back Mobe thanks to which it makes easier to understand this handle pass, and try to perform it!
Description :
The Backroll Mobius (Back Mobe) is preferably a handle pass to be performed with the kite low, lines at 65° minimum compared to the water (even less than 45° for the pros).
This figure is highly demanding and either you perform it with a total commitment or you don’t perform it at all ! Its success depends indeed on the rider’s tonicity but especially its speed of execution. It is all or it is not !
You must start a backloop, then you carry out a handle pass in the middle of the rotation. The handle pass itself is a rotation on oneself even, with a bar release inside the backloop (a rotation in a rotation!). In Backroll Mobius, one will release the front hand to catch up the bar in the back with this same front hand (in opposition to the KGB, handle pass similar in backloop, in which to rider liberates the back hand). div>
Making :
Initiate :
Ride with a good speed, down wind slightly, then grip at once while using the pop of the board to start powerful a backloop while seeking to mount the hips and bring the bar against the hip.
The move :
At half the rotation, you initiate the handle pass itself. I would advise to seek initiate a kind of violent table top (good reference mark the mental representation), twisting the body on itself and liberating the front hand. This one then comes to re-catch the bar in the back. If the move is correctly engaged, the bar is caught up almost naturally!
Landing :
While re-catching the bar with the front hand, the kite will plunge to the bottom... Thus wait a full speed landing. If necessary (with a small wing, if you caught up the end of the bar or if you took a little height) the wing even makes a kiteloop on the front. This is not dramatic if you go down wind as soon as you touch water in order not to make yourself shakes and pull. You can take advantage from it to make a transition while passing the kite below and to set out again quietly on the other hauls: more beautiful effect!
Nevertheless, the ideal is to put back the back hand on the bar before the reception (not easy) in order to entirely recover the control of the kite and to land peacefully!
Key points for success :
-Begin at the right speed
-Make an efficient pop to initiate
-Go as high as possible the hips
-Bring the bar against the hip before you initiate the handle pass
-Put back you back hand before landing
Rold’eau the good tips !
