Blue skies, steady 20-knot winds and sunny weather set the stage for the double elimination round of the Presidente Kiteboarding World Cup here in beautiful Cabarete.

Newcomer Rui Meira rode impressively through out PKRA World Tour Event Three with a variety of handle pass tricks. In the Men’s semifinal Meira took out the Frenchmen Etienne Lhote and went on into the final with Aaron Hadlow. Hadlow put an end to Meira’s charge with a dazzling display of handle pass maneuvers. Hadlow’s stunning victory in Cabarete ranks him number one for the PKRA World Tour for 2005 so far.

In the women’s division Anna Grzelinska battled it out with Bruna Kajiya. Grzelinska placed third and rode impressively through out the event. Bruna Kajiya placed second in the Women’s division when she met current number one ranked PKRA Women’s rider Kristin Boese. Boese and Kajiya both pulled railey to blinds in the women’s final but Boese’s back to blind and high altitude handle passes made it impossible for Bruna Kajiya to defeat her.

Despite the fierce competition in the water the men and women of the PKRA still displayed an amazing amount of camaraderie. It was not uncommon to hear competitors wish each other good luck before heats and help each other with rigging their equipment.

The Presidente Kiteboarding World Cup was truly a successful event and will end with a bang at the award ceremonies tonight where the winners will be crowned and a raging party will surely ensue.
