In the girls U17 the local rider Nina Font (ESP) rode amazingly well today fighting back to back to the final where she met and defeated Claudia León (ESP). This led to a girls Super Final to solve the draw. This time Claudia answered with full force and had her best heat of the competition regaining her throne as junior world tour champion 2016.

The Brazilian Mikaili Sol won the U15 division. She was literally unstoppable demonstrating that she is the girl to beat and is ready to put the big girls in trouble.

The men U17 division displayed an amazing level, this kids are definitely ready to play with the big boys. We started with semifinals between Maxime Chabloz (SUI) and the Frenchman Nino Liboni. It was a really tight heat with such technical tricks like Slim, Crow mobe or Backside 313. The consistency of Chabloz assured him a place in the final.
On the other side we had the Philipine star Christian Tio against the Frenchman Romain Giuliano. We were expecting an amazing performance from Tio, but it wasn't his day, just a few tricks and lots of crashes. Meanwhile Giuliano kept landing tricks and went directly to the final getting Tio to dispute 3rd and 4th place in the B-Final.

The final show U15 delivered an amazing performance by the young talents. Undefeated Chabloz (Sui) landed amazing tricks; Slim5, Heart Attack, Back mobe, Front to blind and backside 313. At the same time The Frenchman Giuliano displayed a sick repertoire of tricks; Heart Attack, Hintemberger FS3, Slim, Back to blind and Backside 313. The 4th day of the WKT Youthcup 2016 started today with a clinic for the kids regarding competition format, code of conduct and strategy during the heat. It was the turn for the Spanish riders. Right after the clinic the wind started to pick up and we started with a Round Robin between the two only U11 riders; Kacper Lepicky (POL) and the Brazilian Kaiki Mar (BRA). They put a nice show despite the light wind and in the end the Polish won the battle.
We continued with the U17 boy’s category. Tight quarter finals between the young talented riders. Choppy conditions but with slightly lighter winds than previous days, allowed riders to go out on their 12 to 14m kites. The beach of St. Pere Pescadorwas once again filled with spectators and families ready to cheer up the kids.

Christian Tio (PHI), the talented Philippine rider could finally show us his skills getting Robby Krikken (FRA) out of the ladder and going straight to the semifinals against the Frenchman Romain Guilliano (FRA). Tio is definitely ready to play with big boys.
On the other semifinal we will have Nino Liboni (FRA) and Maxime Chabloz (SUI), these shredders are performing great since day one. Unfortunately local rider Iñaki Gainza was beated by Chabloz so he will have to wait for the double elimination to get a second chance at the podium.
"It’s a pitty but you never know what’s going to happen. Today conditions were not that good, light wind, and I am not that comfortable with the 14 meter kite I couldn’t land my tricks. Chabloz did well but he was also struggling sometimes. Now I will focus on next year and train harder for next year", Iñaki Gainza stated.

For the semifinals U15, there was an extremely tight heat between Théo Fermon (FRA) and Arthur Lehz (FRA). Lehz was on form, landing sick tricks. However, Fermon was more consistent. In the end, Fermon took the victory from Lehz grasp.

Oscar Perrineau (FRA) was another rider who was on fire today. He performed an unbelievable show, scoring tricks from 5 different families during his semifinal heat. He knew that he had to go big if he wanted to advance against Ducos-Sendra (ESP). Perrineau delivered a solid heat and secured a place in the Final to defend title against his friend Fermon.

U17 quarterfinals saw Nino Liboni (FR) facing Lars de Groof (Bel) in an extremely close heat. Both riders came out strong, head to head, while spectators applauded each of the tricks they landed. The U15 quarterfinals continued with the Spaniard Kiko Peiro Mora (ES) against his mate Sebastian Ducos Sendra (ES). Both of them know the place very well and they train together, but Peiro could not match Duco’s level. The kid from Valencia put on a display of great tricks and advanced into the semifinal.

In one of the U17 quarterfinals we saw local hero Iñaki Gainza (ES) against the french young talent Maxime Chabloz (Switzerland). On an 11 meter kite, Chabloz showcased impressive performance. Gainza was doing well with an 11 meter and got nervous after a few crashes. He lost time relaunching his kite and could not manage to land his usual moves allowing Chabloz to reach the semifinal final against Liboni.

Iñaki Gainza: "The conditions were great, I was on my favourite kite, the 11 meter and I landed nice tricks like a back mobe, but I had a few crashes that make me loose precious time. I am a bit sad because this is my home spot and I wanted to be at least in the final but sometimes you win sometimes you lose, it’s part of the game. I will train harder this year to be ready for the next event.

Around 5:30 p.m. race director Eric Troostheide called off the competition due to insufficient winds, postponing all the finals as well as the double elimination for tomorrow since the forecast is looking much stronger for the next three days.
