After months of negotiations involving the IKA, KRU and the local event organiser, the GKA regrets to announce that the Dakhla Kiteboarding event for the disciplines of freestyle, big-air and wave has been cancelled.

The Dakhla event was to be supported by the GKA in its schedule of GKA-Grand-Slam events for freestyle, big-air and wave/strapless-freestyle. The GKA will therefore announce an alternative event to replace it as a GKA-Grand-Slam event, in order to maintain sufficient competitive events for the riders to ensure a fair and well contested overall championship.

There is potential for the GKA to run a pure wave and strapless-freestyle event in Dakhla later this year.

Due to the cancelation (or postponing) of the wave and strapless-freestyle event in Dakhla, it looks likely that the GKA will step in to run a wave and strapless-freestyle tour this year.

The following locations and dates are under consideration for GKA wave and strapless-freestyle events:

TARIFA: 29.6. - 3.7.2016 (confirmed)

MOROCCO: September 2016 (in negotiations)

MAURITIUS: 17.10. - 30.10.2016 (to be confirmed soon)

CAPE TOWN OR BRAZIL: late November (to be confirmed soon)

The GKA aims to set up a proper and sustainable GKA wave & strapless-freestyle tour for 2017 and beyond.
