27/11: 3 Cool Skin riders within last 4!
Luckily all the guys that were left in the
competition were lightweights, as the wind was light and they were
running up the beach after a run full of tricks. The wind was on-shore
so it was harder for them to stay upwind for them in the final round of
the World Cup here in Brazil. Only 5 heats had to be completed from the
men’s draw. In the 5th round Jojo Carneiro (BRA) and Janek Korycki
competed one against the other, a heat full of handle passes and
kiteloops, Jojo advanced with more power as final sentence on the
judging sheets. Though it was a super close heat, it could of gone
either way. In the same heat, Kevin Langeree (NED) and Cool skin rider
Cesar Portas (ESP), Kevin didn’t wake up with his mojo and had trouble
landing his moves, Cesar advanced, he went for a pull up slim chance to
blind, some kiteloops and several other handle passes.
In the next round Ruben Lenten (NED) won against Jojo Carneiro, Ruben went for any handle pass powered, powered kiteloops, a nice s-bend downloop and straight into a 360 handle pass. Etienne Lhote (FRA) went for very nice moves, grabbed flat 3, grabbed Mobe, all sorts of insane moves but his landings were not consistent, he lost to Cesar Portas and ended in 5th place. Cool Skin teammates Ruben Lenten versus Cesar Portas, the winner of that heat advanced to the semi finals. Cesar went for some good kiteloops and high handle passes, Ruben did his whole repertoire without falling in…and won! Cesar Portas ended in 4th place.
In the semi final two Cool Skin riders meet each other: Gianni Aragno (ESP) and Ruben Lenten. This heat was breath taking, Ruben and Gianni started with a synchronized kiteloop and as from there one move after another got completed and landed perfect. Ruben went for a grabbed flat 3, downloop
S-bend, a powered slim, a powered Mobe and so on. Ruben crashed his kite and it got washed in by a wave, his caddy’s grabbed another kite and in the mean time Ruben ran back up the beach and went back out and did another kiteloop. Gianni had really nice moves too, a front Mobe, an Indy glide and so on. Ruben lost some time when he lost his kite but he advanced anyway, he had more powered moves than Gianni.
The final started with Ruben and Aaron Hadlow but got cancelled in the middle of the heat as the wind was going light! The final will be rerun tomorrow in the morning.
So, in this event we will see 3 Cool Skin riders with the last 4! Cesar takes 4, Gianni 3 and Ruben 2 or 1? Ruben and his mate Aaron will battle it out tomorrow!
Girls
Bruna Kajiya (BRA) met Ania Grzelinska (POL) in the 5th round, Bruna rode well, with a lot of power, Ania landed more and advanced to the next round together with Angela Peral, Angela won from Anna Sparre with a very nice kiteloop and aggressive moves.
Ania met Angela in the quarterfinal; again Angela went for another crazy kiteloop, surface handle passes, high 720 jump and Ania for unhooked spins and sliding handle passes, blind 360, an Indy grab, 1 footer, a tantrum and more. Angela landed more and had more variety and advanced to the semi final, where she met Cindy Mosey. Cindy did some very technical moves, a 360 kiteloop, Ollie to blind, a railey, 360 aerial handle pass and so on. Cindy finished with a more completed heat and advanced to the final.
Cindy and Kristin met each other once again for another final, both girls went for an aerial handle pass; Kristin went for a downloop s-bend, 720 transitions and, a railey to toeside. Cindy went for a 720-kiteloop backloop, a railey to toeside, a downloop transition, a kiteloop and a pup up to blind with a handle pass. Cindy won with a 5-0 decision; Cindy landed more and was more complete.
There will be another final tomorrow to decide the winner of the double elimination!
