Background
In 2005, nearly all kites feature a safety and relaunch system as standard. Only a year ago, most bars featured a simple reride leash which depowered your kite.
Most of the kites on the market uses a 5 line system. Wipika was the first to bring out the 5th line safety and relaunch systems, and most manufacturers has since bought out their own 5 line systems.
All 5 line systems work on the same principal - a 5th line is attached to your leading edge (normally the pump leash connector point). However, not all 5 line systems enhance the performance of your kite. The Naish Torch and North Rhino cannot be flown efficiently without a 5 line system.
The 5 line systems on these kites always has a certain amount of tension on the leading edge which helps when your kite is depowered, and fully powered. Basically the 5 line reduces jelly fishing and prevents the kite from bending in a U shape when fully loaded and depowered, making the kite more efficient.

Conclusion :
Both systems offer advantages and disadvantages. Both systems work well within its range of abilities. It really is up to the end user to match the pros and cons of each system with his individual requirements.
