"Jamie Overbeek unlocked a new level on the foil Thursday, boosting 20 jumps over 25m, two over 30m, and a new World Record for Highest Foil Jump at 33.2m!
Riding at his homespot in Workum, NL, Jamie opted for an Ozone R1 v4 9m kite on shortened 17m lines, a Levitaz R5 foil, 111cm mast, and Exo 5 board.
Borja Vellon set the previous World Record of 30.6m in January in Leucate, FR.
This week’s record opens the door for hydrofoils climbing the All-Time WOO Leaderboards. 18 riders have eclipsed 33.2m on a twintip, but Jamie’s boosts Thursday occurred in “just” 30-35kts. Hydrofoils are included in Kite Highest Jump, Team Max Height, and Nations Cup this year’s WOO Worlds, allowing riders missing out on ideal storm conditions to use foils to up their scores. Exciting times for kiteboarding and foiling!
