And we’re off, Marc Gondard and I have just made the long trip to the cold and tumultuous waters of Finistere, to prepare along with the rest of the team, the big challenge that Manu Bertin suggested we tackle together : across the English Channel by kitesurf at its widest point.
A five word mission: Ouessant to Cornwall, non-stop!
And it’s the very same Manu who welcomed us at his place yesterday, in the gigantic bay at Douarnenez, where he had a little surprise in store…
When we arrive he’s actually on the water with his big mate Paolo Rista, big name in pro windsurfing, but they’re not out kiting. Each in turn is testing a new, indeed, future concept in wind / board sport which, when you see it, you say “yes of courseâ€.
A few years after bringing us kitesurf, Manu and Paolo, in their perpetual mission for new board sensations, are about to bring another revolution to our mundane world, but I can’t say a word more for now…
In fact our meeting was a big success, the first day was given over, as planned, to a big press conference followed by numerous kitesurf demonstrations for most of the big French media. Clearly our challenge is generating a lot of interest and we won’t be found wanting in the exposure department.
Time for action!"
