Lamezia
Lamezia Terme, commonly known as Lamezia (Italy) will be the third stop of the KTE season 2011. Lamezia is located in the Calabria region at the Tyrrhenian coast, about 370km south of Naples and 130km north of Messina. The city is famous for its cathedral Nicastro, which was built in the 9th century when Calabria was part of the Byzantine Empire. Even more famous is probably the thermal bath of Sambiase, a popular destination for Romans in ancient times and locals as well as visitors today.
The baths of Sambiase was in a famous Roman itinerary Tabula Peuntigerian so it was a important destination. The thermal baths of Sambase were great and famous place of comfort and rest for wayfarers, soldiers, messengers, in the ancient times they was called Aque Ange
The Location
Lamezia is situated in the Calabria region in the southern part of Italy. An international airport just a few kilometres outside Lamezia makes the city a hub for tourism in the south of Italy.
