Well, it is official, we will be venting our 2008 line of kites and have made public the 2008 Rise Venturi as our first model. Expect to see this innovation applied to all of our 2008 kites.
For 2008 we will be selling a convertable 5th line / SLE version of the Diablo, a Variable Arc One with the smallest One's being very flat and the larger sizes becoming progressivly more C shaped for the lighter winds and our most popular kite the Rise will remain largely unchanged save for the new bridle configuration and the addition of the vents.
Obviously this is a forum for Ocean Rodeo riders and as such I am going to go ahead and assume you are all interested in learning more about the vents. Here's the break down!
Just like a Jib and Main sail are more efficient than a single larger main sail the slotted air foil is itself not new news. What is exciting is the application of this knowledge to our kite gear! Air flowing over the leading edge tube of a kite in flight is heavily turbulated on the top side, think of a rock in a river with water flowing over it. This turbulated air flow reduces the efficiency of our kites and their potential lift. The vents on our 2008 line of kites featuring Venturi Technology serve to flush cleaner air out the vent and draw this turbulated air down and closer to the air foil to smooth its flow, increasing efficiency and lift and leading to 3 concrete advantages:

1) Fly at a Higher Angle of Attack! - Point the kite higher to get up wind faster and generate more power out of the kite by flying it at a higher angle of attack!
2) Less Likely To Stall! - Even when over sheeted the kite will resist stalling. This will help with jumps, as Evan mentioned earlier, and with beginners who scrub their power by stalling the kite - beginner to pro will love this innovation!
3) Go Un Hooked! - By allowing the kite to fly forward even when over sheeted kites featuring Venturi Technology will allow the rider to un hook with confidence knowing the kite will stay on track! Focus on the trick, not the kite!
