Offshore Odysseys has just announced they have purchased a catamaran for The Best Odyssey, their upcoming world kitesurfing expedition. Owner Gavin McClurg says, “she’s everything and more we dreamed of having. She’s loaded with equipment, has a stunning interior (4 gorgeous double owner’s cabins + 2 crew), plenty of storage for all our toys, dive compressor…the list goes on and on.†Discovery is a Lagoon 570 and currently lies in Italy. Gavin and crew will be making the Atlantic crossing in December to begin their itinerary in the Caribbean this January.
In related news, the team has also hired their chef, a position posted on kiteforum.com for the past few weeks. “We received applications from all corners of the globe and narrowing them proved a painstaking task. But in the end there was one that really stood out. Her cooking has been written up in magazines, her references impeccable, and she has more sailing miles than most true sailors get in a lifetime, on a wide range of boats,†says Jody MacDonald, First Mate of The Best Odyssey. Offshore Odysseys would like to welcome the third member of their team, Trisha Lafferty. “We’re thrilled to have Trisha’s energy and enthusiasm onboard, and I know our owners will be as well,†Jody continues. Offshore Odysseys received a number of excellent applications from members of kiteforum and wishes to thank all those who applied.
