A day when the show gossip was dominated by the arrival at the end of the afternoon of a number of (patent) bailiffs at the Gaastra stand (yep, honestly !!!) who, tape measures in hand, had come to verify the various distances between the leading and trailing edges, a fundamental element of the Legaignoux patent, a patent for which Gaastra have clearly not paid their 2003 license fee after discontinuing their 2002 inflated trailing edge concept !
Anyway, beyond all these legal shenanigins, interesting news on the wire concerning Bertrand Fleury’s move to SOS kiteboards as from January 2003 whilst retaining the services of Messrs. Naish + Co. for his wings. And speaking of the Naish devils, we’ve weedled out of them that the new X3 will be available from March 2003 here in Europe. A bit more patience required, therefore.
And thanks to Eric Carriere, head sales dude for Boards & More France, for letting us in on the good secret of the new North Scepter control bar with its well-conceived multiple safety systems…
And it’s also worth mentioning that, as every year, the Surf Village was totally overrun by hordes of kids, the next generation kitesurfers !!!
