Today the wind was a steady 18 to 20 knots and the sun was shinning. The PKRA Super Kite Brazil got underway at 8:00 AM. The trials were jam packed with exciting and progressive PKRA World Cup freestyle kiteboarding action.

With the trials out of the way PKRA officials started the single elimination competition.
In a bit of an upset local Brazilian rider Gully Brandao (Brazil, RRD) took out Aaron Hadlow (UK, Flexifoil). Brandao went on to meet Montaron (Tahiti, Liquid force) in a heat and was defeated. Alvero Onieva (Spain, Best) advanced through four heats with some impressive riding but was taken out by Ruben Lenten (Netherlands, Slingshot). Kevin Langaree (Netherlands, Naish) beat the Tahitian Montaron (Liquid Force) in a semi-final. In the final it was two Netherlanders, Kevin Langaree (Naish) and Ruben Lenten (Slingshot). Lenten’s raw power moves shined through and landed him on the podium in the first place position.

Waar nu ook een dik verslag staat:

With the wind stronger in the morning hours, the T’AI Superkite 2005 event got off, once again, to an early start at the Beach Park Resort in Fortaleza, Brazil. Competition got underway at 7:30 am with the Men’s Main Event Singles. The wind ranged from 17-20 knots early on, dropping to about 15 knots for the majority of the day’s heats. Riders continued to have to battle the wind fluctuations, the waves, chop and surf break, as well as strong downwind current. This made staying upwind nearly impossible and competitors were seen running up the beach throughout the day with plenty of help from friends and fellow riders who carried boards and pulled them along. Meanwhile, the crowds on the beach enjoyed the sunny, warm weather and the exciting action on the water.
