Barra Grande is a small primative fishing village on the Parnaiba's Delta. It is surrounded by coconut grooves which provides shade and a tropical setting. The consistant winds and warm waters (28 celcius degrees) make it perfect for kiteboarding and windsuring!

The wind blows almost all year long, except February, March and April which are our rainy months. July through January is the high season and the winds vary from 18 to 30 knots.

- Pontal: in front of the "pousada", with side-shore wind, flat water and small waves during high tide.
- Mangue Seco: side-onshore winds and small waves great for jumping during high tide.
- La Boca: 2km flat water, 1m deep on a virgin beach!
- Jungle lake: Flat salt water lake with a sand dune on one side and a mangrove on the other which provides great sailing. Another virgin beach.
30km downwind from Barra Grande to Coqueiro, passing by rivers, islands and beaches: Maramar, Carnaubinha, Cabeleira, Arrombado and Itaqui.

Barra Grande Kite Camp is a rusty "pousada" made with typicals naturals materials from the place and situated in front of the beach, under the shadow of a big coconut tree forest. The room's distribution creates a total integration with the riders.

Accomodations include: breakfast with fresh natural juices and fruits, lunch and seafood dinner.

Barra Grande is situated on the Parnaiba's Delta's A.P.A (Ambiental Protection Area) which is composed of beaches, dunes, rivers, lakes, mangroves and islands, which creates kitesurfing conditions.

Barra Grande is localizated on the Parnaiba's Delta (state of Piaui) between two famous Brazilian National Parks. On one side you have Jericoacoara and on the other is Lencois Maranhenses.

1. By bus from Fortaleza and Teresina

It's a BARRA GRANDE KITE CAMP's responsability the transfer from Parnaiba to Barra Grande village (40 min.).
