On August 26 and 27 the Third Phase of a great kitesurf event took place, The Hand KiteSurf Circuit 2007.
The first day was born really windy, exciting all the competitors and the crew. Peaks of 19 knots and maintaining at 16 knots. Seven races were due for the third phase of the circuit, only four races went on and the worst timing and positions from the riders were discharged. The first race was really challenging. Bodete, always maintaining good positions, won this one, followed by Petronio Avelar e Rodrigo Palmeira.
The second race started really thrilling. The disputes took place since the very beginning up to the last buoys. Not a surprising finishing line with Petronio, Bodete and Pedro Carvalho, completing the podium.
Bodete got himself out of the third race due to breaking his loops. Matheus Napy , Petronio and Pedro Carvalho took the chance they got and had a wonderful race. The finishing line was: Matheus, first; Petronio, second and Pedro, third. An amazing race by Rodrigo Palmeira, who got fourth place.
The fourth and last race of the circuit would give us an unpleasant surprise at its very first buoy turn. The riders Petronio and Rodrigo Palmeira bumped into one another and gave up the race. It could not end up with the rest of the competitors’s day. Chico Moura disputed up to last buoys, but ended up third, which shows his improvement. Pedro Carvalho won the fourth race, followed by Matheus Napy.
All these races took place on Saturday, the 26.
As for the Sunday, the wind under the 12 knots needed for a high-level race, frustrated the riders’ eagerness to kite.
As a nice result, the third phase from The Hand KiteSurf Circuit 2007 was one of the most competitives ever.
The Organization Committee thanks all the participants and seizes the moment to invite everyone for the fourth phase of the circuit, to happen on September 22 and 23.
