This is not the usual home made anemometer that sucks, is inaccurate and reads just high winds. It is very accurate, and reads light breezes as low as 2 kn. But there is one small "trick" to do.
All you need is pingpong balls, a computer power suply fan (I'm sure your power supply broke at least once, anyway it's a couple of euros), and a bycicle speedometer. Mine costs less than 10€ from decathlon. It just reads instat speed. If you want to pimp it, buy one with max, min average speed etc.
