The WISSA Ice and Snow Sailing World Championships is the oldest best known event of its kind. There are three (3) classes or methods of propulsion by wind :

1) Sled Class : This is any sled powered by a windsurfing rig, where the rider is standing. Design parameters are completely open. Ironically, this is the oldest continuously run event in the history of windsurfing

2) Hand held Class : Any wing held directly by hand

3) Kites Class : All wings connected by lines. This sport consist to slide on skis and to be trackted by a kite

This will be the 28th World Championships, held each year alternating between Europe to North America. Candidates from all over the world compete in the only international racing venue for winter sailing in the world. Thanks to generous sponsorship from the Matapedia Valley. Athletes from around the world will come to see and know this beautifull area.

Every night, the meals and social activities (see Shedule) will take place at " Parc Régional de Val-D'Irène " ski resort; the main accommodation located 8 km from the event. The organizing committee will provide a free shuttle from the lodging center to the event daily. If you want to be close to the action, you need to book as soon as possible as space is limited (see Wissa package). There are also some "private cottages" to rent located less than 300m from major lodging (see lodging). If the lodging at the ski resort and neighbourhood is full, you can stil stay at the village of Val-Brillant, close to the race site.

The organizing committee of WISSA 2008 welcomes you to the web site and to the event. Good sailing!
