Corona Extra Winter Tour - Silvaplana/Wednesday - Day 5 Pretty long last day!!! | |
| Let’s go!!! As usually the sun shines this Wednesday morning on the Silvaplana’s frozen lake. Riders and organizers look forward to the wind. At 12h30 Damien Richard explains what will happen today : women will go first for a second round, then there will be a third snowboarders and skiers round. The drawing of lots of the heats is done and Greni Torstein and Agnès Fontenay are chosen to judge the snowboarders and the skiers. At 1.15pm the women’s heat begins. Agnès Fontenay wins again thanks to the loops she does. Nicole Nussbaun takes the second place followed by Marine Lamblin and Estelle Lambelet. Fabienne Kaufmann (the only skier girl) shows a good performance. At 1.30pm the third snowboarders round begins as the thermic wind blows up around 12 knots. It’s hard for the judges to find the best riders because the level is high from the first heats. The first semi final makes Chastagnol, Natland, Roten and Pattou ride together. Chastagnol qualifyies himself for the final thanks to his high technical ride. The judges are impressed by Natland who joins the final too. Alex Schwab, Dominique Gumtenberge, Patrick Koller and Matthieu Blanchard are in the second semi final. Patrick Koller flyies on the big air and shows clean and stylish tricks. Alex Schwab does the dead man he’s used to do and rides fast. The two men qualify themselves for the final. Mathias Roten, Damien Pattou, Dominique Gumtenberge and Matthieu Blanchard compete together in the little final. Roten grabs the fifth place followed by Matthieu Blanchard (who does huge curves, high jumps, great landings, raileys and one hand loops), Damien Pattou and Dominique Gumtenberge. Then it’s time for the final heat : André Natland does high clean grabs but finishes at the fourth place. Patrick Koller plays on the kickers and links up fakie and reverse positions : he grabs the third place. Alex Schwab is second and the efficient Guillaume Chastagnol wins one more time… |
