The wind, blowing in at 25 knots allows local Eric Carriere to impose himself at the head of the leader board once again with a speed of 36.40 knots, hotly pursued by Manu Taub, 9/100 of a knot behind at 36.31… Around 2.30pm the wind dropped off again and no improvement to those speeds could be made.
The organisers decided to finally close the run down for good! With the weather forecast looking unfavourable right through to May 15th (the last possible day for running at Leucate), the decision was taken to validate the outcome of the International Kite Speed on the results of the three days of trials that were held… That means a new World Record with the 38.28 knots posted by ‘Magik’ Malik Bouchenafa, Eric Carriere in second place with 38.02 and the Norwegian starlet Tuva Jensen setting an impressive women’s record of 33.23 knots, surely not the last we’ll hear from her on the kite speed front!!!
