Hi icon_biggrin.gif

I've a change to take good look of the Rhino3 12m prototype on tuesday last weeks and actually had a talk with Ken Winner plus launched the 12m for the man himself.
Ken was with Haimez testing Rhino3 prototype at Coyote point in Burlingame south Of San francisco airport and ready for the Waddell waves competion from thursday thru sunday.
Here's what I saw and feel:

The kite seem very light when holding launching take off.
The leading Edge seem very stiff and small. The stiffness must be the butt joint of all the struts.
The leading edge and panel canopy is link (stitched) together using approximately 2" (5cm) of Dacron material.
The panel canopy material Rip stop is stitched to material Snake skin seem 3 time thicker than Rip stop ( This material is currely used on Toro2 near the leading edge) approximately 12" (30cm) .
Along the trailing edge 12 fluster triangle was located between segment of canopy or strut ( see Toro2).
7 Struts is all butt jointed and very small even the center strut ( X3 only have 3 Struts butt jointed middle center, center and middle center).
Wing tip is still using carbon bar and for steering Rhino3 prototype have 3 attachment.
The valve is all high quality.
The look is a little different than Rhino2.
I'm definetly buy a quiver of these kite when it out in the market. icon_thump.gif
I'm already own Rhino2 12m, 16m and love their quality plus performance.
I think North is heading the right direction keep improve quality, but never forget performance

Of het de opvolger is weet ik niet, maar wat ik wel met 100% zekerheid weet is dat North een Rhino 3 deze zomer uitbrengt!!_/-\o_

North have acknowledged that the Rhino2 is a bit too deep in the luff curve in all but the biggest sizes. The major changes in the R3 are as follows:
- Shallower luff curve
- Narrower struts and leading edge. Rigid connection between struts and LE
- Aerodynamic, batten-less wing tips

Look more closely. Perfect application of the butt joint idea, as it should have been done. i.e. no bump in the leading edge to rib connection on the top surface. A perfect profile. Also, the profile is supported WAY beyond what others have done because butt joints were made to work like we all dreamed they should. icon_greenlaugh.gif

Here you can see a typical kite that is NOT the R3 icon_greenlaugh.gif
