Slingshot Kiteboarding has determined, after extensive research and testing, that an indoor air-conditioned, cement-floor setting is not adequate conditions for kiteboarding. As a result of these findings, Slingshot will not be attending the 2003 Surf Expo at the Orange County Convention Center. Slingshot will be launching 2004 where kites can be flown, boards ridden, and product used, in ideal conditions using wind and water. This is an undisclosed location at this time.
Slingshot Kite Designer Tony Logosz was a very significant contributor during the intense research period of the Cement Findings. "I have questioned the use of slippery cement floors for kiteboarding for years, and it is clear that it really doesn't work - especially after someone spills their Slurpee."
Board Designer John Doyle adds, "The air-conditioning runs in a circular figure-8 pattern that makes any steadiness impossible for a Backside Spin to Mobius. The landing is brutal."
Other Kiteboarding manufacturers have displayed skepticism regarding the Slingshot Cement findings. However, Slingshot holds firm on their stance. You can't experience new product and the ultimate ride without getting on the water and riding the product.
Slingshot has taken kite construction and features to a new level for 2004, creating a positive experience for the consumer with more performance, convenience, and durability benefits.
