JIM BEAM KITEBOARD WORLD CUP - ISTANBUL 14 – 20 JULY 2003 PRIZE MONEY : US$ 10 000
Monday, July 14th
For the second time since its creation in 1999, the Kiteboard Pro World Tour landed in Istanbul for the Jim Beam Kiteboard World Cup. After the success of the first event thanks to an uncomparable organization and an amazing hospitality, everybody was longing for the 2003 edition.
The Jim Beam Kiteboard World Cup is the second round of the Kiteboard Pro World Tour 2003’. Riders from all around the world have made the journey to Burc beach – Gumusdere : Ofri Argov and Leeshai Miller from Israel, Aaron Jarman from New-Zealand, Cindy Jones from Australia, Marten Lander from Denmark, the Dubble World Champion Fabienne D’Ortoli from France etc. Russian journalists also arrive this morning and are keen on promoting kiteboard in their country. A universal sport !
The local organizer Sportsworks Group has made an outstanding job since last year. The beach which was already beautifully set up has become a lovely and windy paradise. Despite the difficult situation of the Turkish economy, they did their outmost in order to hold the event and offer the same quality of services to the Kiteboard Pro World Tour. Many thanks for their efforts and their professionalism.
On this 14th of July, the French National day, the programme of the riders is rather relaxed and shared between registration, training and a turistic visit of Istanbul. On the Kiteboard Pro World Tour race direction side, Bernard D’Ancona, the Race director, finalises the set up of the beach with his team Luc Andrian, Eric Garnier et Manon Corvisy. Meanwhile, the famous (and crazy …) speaker Stephen entertains the public.
The weather forecast for the week is looking rather good. The kick off of the competition is tomorrow and if the wind is blowing like today we will have a great show on the water. Get connected and follow the Kiteboard Pro World Tour with us !
