Leuke column! kijk je toch zomaar overheen terwijl ik dagelijks daar over de vloer kom
Go kids go!!!
It looked briefly as though things would settle down but now, following the latest PKRA round in Fuerteventura in the Canaries, there’s no getting away from the fact that the yooff are truly on the up!!!
From the dizzy heights of 21 years old, Martin Vari, winner of the Fuerte round, is almost the old man of the tour, considering that 2nd placed Giani Aragno is all of 18 and that the 3rd podium place went to young Spaniard Alvaro Onieva, just turned 15 and already with the 2002 European Champion title in his pocket. Then you look at our own 15 year old prodigy, Aaron Aar-Haar superstar†Hadlow, and his excellent early season results and you can see what I mean!!!
And it’s not just the boys either, consider the girls situation where they’re all already looking over their shoulders at the fast-improving Gisela Pulido, all 9 (!!!) years old of her and already a tour regular!!!
At an age when for many the beach is still a place to make sandcastles, this lot (and plenty more like them) are swapping bucket and spade for control bar and kite and getting out for some top fun on the water…
Because that’s the name of the game in the end, having fun… No tantrums, no egos and no (not yet anyway) responsibilities, we already knew that kids learned fast, now we can see they’re out there for fun first and foremost, everything else comes after that!!!
The yooff are coming, that’s for sure, at your home spot too. Don’t be surprised (and don’t say we didn’t warn you) when one of these little cherubs comes out riding like the devil and ripping up your spot… Go kids go!!!
