This is the first volume in a series of Kitesurfing training modules. Volume One consists of a twin DVD box. It will be available shortly. This training series is presented by Mike Smith IKO Level 2 Instructor and current leader of the 2003 BKSA National Series. Mike with the support of his sponsors, Cabrinha Kites and Protest Clothing will take you through your first steps into this dynamic sport covering equipment, safety, set-up, launching and landing through to your first intro of basic, jumps and rotations. The technical concept of Multiple camera angles synched together allows you to see Mike perform a variety of tricks and manoeuvers while also being able to watch his hand movements on the bar, plus see how the kite reacts all on the same widescreen picture. For added value you will also find three audio options. Tunes and Tips will give you some funky vibes to take in the basics. Mike Smith will give you less music and more in depth technical discussion while Andy Preston will give an International judges perspective on how tricks and styles are judged in competition plus the insight of a man who has more experience with power kites than most people are ever likely to have. This Fluid Edge series has been shot in the UK - Cornwall, the Scilly isles and North Wales all providing some of the best UK conditions and locations.  Congratulations to Mike Smith, Sean & Cabrinha for producing the best “how to†kitesurf DVD I’ve seen. The instructional pieces from Mike are simple, clear & concise, with for the first time, the huge advantage of a window in the top left of the screen showing what the kite is doing as Mike talks through the move/technique he’s pulling off. Fluid edge takes a rider through from a Newbie to going for forward loops, with an emphasis on safety. Filming was entirely on location in the UK, with interviews from some of the UK’s top riders, prize for top quote goes to Bully. One recommendation is to go through the audio options, as the commentaries from Andy Preston & Mike add a new dimension to the footage. Also run the footage on slow motion and there are instructional sub-titles, telling you when to load up with your back foot, etc. This is completely recommended viewing for any Newbie/Intermediate…. As for the “older†hands of us out there, c’mon Mike/Sean get on with editing Vol. 2 (Tantrums, Kiteloops, Handle-passes, etc)… Well done boys. |
