The Student Kitesurfing Association Beginner’s Weekend 2011

Two days Kitesurfing tuition at a tiny fraction of the going rate, with two nights accommodation in our own little corner of wales just 5 minutes from the spot with a bar on site… what could go wrong? We’ll get your kite flying skills bang tidy, so that you’re ready to enter the water on subsequent trips with your university clubs! (Individuals are welcome, see the end of this post for more information). Wind dependent we should get everybody through the equivalent of the BKSA Day One Course, taking you through set-up, safety systems, basic piloting, self-rescue, launching, landing and passing over the kite in flight.

5 minutes from Junction 41 of the M4 not far into South Wales!
Tuition:
Two days 10am-4pm, 4:1 Instructor Ratio (Fully qualified BKSA)
Minimum 3 hours per day with instructor (wind dependent)
Unlimited supervised practice time following lessons and instructor’s approval
Equipment:
All needed equipment provided by SKA Sponsors Flexifoil and Mystic
Bring pair of shoes with ankle support, warm & rainproof clothing
Accommodation:
Shared bunkhouses 5 minutes’ drive from beach, party venue bar on site of SKA Wave Jam Fame
No cooking facilities, bedding not provided (bring sleeping bags!)
Warm showers
Food:
Price includes lovely Student Home Cooked meals on Saturday night and a cooked breakfast on Sunday morning
Kitchen facilities are not available for general use, only group cooking by committee
For specific dietary requirements: Just a few of Port Talbot’s supermarkets and best food spots on the map above
Timings:
Arrival from 9pm Friday at Bunkhouse (See Map) or for briefing at 10am Saturday at Car Park
Booking and Cost:
Booking is open only to club presidents or representatives who must provide proof of a minibus reservation (or deposit) in order to reserve a block of spaces. This commitment allows us to extend the payment deadline until freshers week.
The costs per individual are as follows. (Payment deadline 8th Oct)
£35 per person incl. tuition wristband, saturday night bunkhouse accommodation, Saturday dinner and Sunday cooked breakfast

£10 Friday night accommodation
£6 for Friday dinner and Saturday cooked breakfast
