The news about the new water speed record set by kitesurfer Cory Roeseler (49.54 knots) has exploded like a bombshell since its official announcement…
As if to prove the point, the Australians behind Yellow Pages have let it be known that they’re already working on some kind of speed canal big enough for a sailing boat, with the aim, and we quote “…of smashing this record which was nothing more than a fluke!â€.
And on the windsurf side there’s even more of a kerfuffle with the best speedster specialists around (Finian Maynard, Bjorn Dunkerbeck, Robby Naish, David Garrel, etc…) already announcing their own attempt. And we’ve heard lots of noise about a possible big windsurf - kitesurf confrontation at the Mondial du Vent speed trials!!!
