Luckily the wind didn’t break through until the afternoon, so the riders with a hangover had a chance to get it cured. While waiting for the wind to come the young ones entertained themselves playing football and taking some waves in the kayaks.
In the late afternoon the wind slowly brought some kite-action in the relaxed scene of Duinbergen. Jan Stockman (BE) started pumping his 30 meter kite when there was more or less 7 knots. Straight after this Mark Shinn (UK) got his 25 meters and surfboard and tried out the conditions. The wind picked up pretty fast with an average of 12 knots and an hour later the start signal was given. Everybody was eager to show their stylish moves which brought some nice handle passes and board offs in the first round.
Not only the men got the chance to get some action, the women too got some sick air and nice moves, s.a. kite loops and rotations. Our Belgian girls did really well. Kaat Lannoy and Ariane Saverys made it through to the second round with pro’s like Petra Goeshl, Coralie Imbert and Anna Sparre. Unfortunately Belgian Champion 2003 Corinne Vlietinck couldn’t join Kaat and Ariane due to a knee injury.
In the second round of the men’s division Leeshai Miller (ISR) and Aaron Hadlow (UK) made it through to the quarter finals with a nice heat. Also Ofri Argov (ISR), Rolf Van der Vlugt (NL), Ruben Lenten (NL), Reinier Korstanje (NL), Kevin Langeree (NL), Cees Van Oosterum (NL) made it through to the quarter final rounds tomorrow!!!
The night started with a tasteful barbecue followed by spectacular fireworks offered by Corona. Hopefully good winds for tomorrow so we can continue the Corona Extra Kite European Championships. See ya.
