Full report on the MTX is here, if you have any queries or questions, login and use the comment box. Read more. I used my MTX for the first time on Saturday, having had the board for the last week but the wind/work conspiring against me. See the previous article on set up tips. Used the board in approx 24 knots with a 12m X3 in both choppy conditions and waves of 2-3ft. As soon as I got on the board, the first thing I noticed was the way the board rides, it feels fast and smooth. The difference between the MTX and riding a Mutant (my usual board is a 4’7 Pro) is that the board requires a more TT orientated riding style, using more rail for grip than reliance on fins. As you’re riding you really notice that the board has the holy grail of rocker lines… also known as the magic carpet ride, the board really does feel that smooth, this is providing of course that you’re edging well on the rail length, because as soon as you place your weight on top of the board it feels skittish and no where near as nice. The other thing that strikes you is how light the board feels, you don’t notice any weight on your feet and this does require for the foot strap set up to be just right, so you can edge well.
