The IKO, International Kiteboarding Organization, has recently set up an Instructor Equivalency Course for PASA and VDWS instructors who wish to be recognized as IKO instructors.
The IEC is opened to instructors who have at least 1 year of teaching experience as a kiteboarding instructor, who have power boat rescue skills, and are at least 19 years old.
The IEC is organized in 2 days, during which the candidates will become familiar with the IKO teaching concept and standards. During the course, they are evaluated on their teaching abilities and knowledge about safety and pass a written and oral examination. Among other things, the training pack includes a copy of the instructor’s manual, the kiteboarder’s workbook, 20 kiteboarder cards and feedback forms.
Since the IEC is targeted to instructors who have teaching experience only, it gives them the opportunity to faster reach the IKO level 2 and request to affiliate their kiteboarding center and train assistant instructors.
