When and where did you start kiteboarding? Have you been windsurfing before (as a pro? what level?) and why have you changed (if so?) I began windsurfing when I was six years old. I moved to the Caribbean with my family when I was nine so windsurfing was always there for me. I competed but I was too young to take it that seriously. I basically started kiting out of boredom. I was sitting on the beach one day waiting for wind and a friend of mine had just bought a used 8.5 Wipika, so I grabbed it from him and went out for a few hours. . .one month later I sold and gave back all my windsurfing gear to my sponsors and bought kites!
What are your five best competition results?
1st PKRA, Germany
3rd PKRA, Fuerteventura
3rd Redbull KOA, Maui.
1st King of The Bay, San Francisco.
4th Velocity Games, Texas.
Describe your best day/trip
Surfing in the morning, kiting in the afternoon . . .with all my friends of course.
And the worst?
I don’t like to think about that.
What is the best thing your parents ever gave or did to you?
Moving to the Caribbean when I was a kid and giving me the freedom to be who I wanted to be.
When you were a kid, what was your big dream?
To travel the world and explore.
What is your dream today?
Who is the most important person in your life?
My mom, Dad, and brother for sure.
What do you need to be happy?
Wind, waves. friends, family.
What do you think is the best invention in humanity?
The classic, designer, custom, deluxe, prestige, high quality, handmade, premium, gourmet, select pocket pencil sharpener in a genuine imitation style leather carrying case with authentic vinyl trim. Also the internet.
What do you think of kitesurfing, compared to other sports?
I would like to see kiteboarding become as mainstream as snowboarding and skateboarding. I think it has a lot of potential to do so because it appeals to so many people from so many board-sport backgrounds.
What else turns you crank?
Old-school Atari video games.
What are your five favourite CD’s?
Yonder Mountain String Band, Ben Harper, George Carlin, Bad Religion, John Mayer.
What are your goals?
To be myself and be happy.
At what place have you always wanted to be and/or kite but didn’t have the chance yet?
Recently? Back Yards.
